Unique, modified 4+2+2 block schedule system allows for predictability, consistency, work-life balance, and balanced inpatient/ambulatory exposure across our ambulatory sites.

Block types
4-week blocks are reserved for inpatient wards, VA critical care wards, elective rotations, procedure team, and medicine consult.
2-week ambulatory block allow for 4 continuity clinic half-day sessions per week at the resident’s assigned clinic site. The rest of the time they are assigned to subspecialty clinics, research, or quality improvement.
Other 2-week blocks are reserved for JMH critical care wards, ER, vacation (4 weeks per year), night float, dedicated research time, quality improvement, or dedicated elective time.
