William J. Harrington Training Program for Latin America and the Caribbean
Founded in 1967 by the late Dr. William J. Harrington, the William J. Harrington Medical Training Program for Latin America and the Caribbean seeks to build collaboration with countries in the region and contribute to their medical systems.
Through a competitive selection process, we offer twelve positions to physicians who intend to contribute to and/or collaborate with medical systems in their home countries. Once residents complete their internal Medicine training, they may pursue a fellowship in their specialty of choice.
Requirements/application process:
Must show plans to work in, or help improve, healthcare in your home country. Your ERAS personal statement can be about any topic(s) you wish but should cover your long-term plans.
ECFMG certification OR eligibility for provisional certification through accepted ECFMG pathways. *
No strict year-of-graduation cutoff, but preferably 5 years or less
US clinical experience is preferred but not required.
Applications and supporting documents are accepted only through ERAS. Select the WJH track when applying.
The internal medicine residency program does not offer observerships. Contact the International Medicine Institute directly for questions about their observership experiences.
We participate in the NRMP and have a separate NRMP program code code.
